Sturdivant & Co. - Mid-Atlantic 22 Index
Sturdivant has been a cornerstone in the Mid-Atlantic Region for over 20 years, and during that time we have built long standing relationships with many of the companies in our footprint through our participation in initial public offerings, secondary offerings, corporate buybacks, access to management, and our extensive research coverage. Our Index is an equally weighed index comprised primarily of companies we actively follow in our Focus List, or with whom we actively trade for our institutional clients.

Soft Dollar Services
Sturdivant & Co. offers soft dollar services to our institutional clients. Consistent with the safe harbor of Section 28e of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, our soft dollar services allows for considerable reduction in research expenses. With aggressive ratio’s, Sturdivant & Co. helps our soft dollar clients maximize their commission dollars and control their research costs in a more effective manner.

Portfolio Transition Management
Sturdivant & Co. offers transition management services for plan sponsors, trustees, investment committees and other institutional investors who are making a change in their asset allocation or investment manager lineup. From overseeing the portfolio liquidation, managing the cash on an interim basis, or participating in a multi-manager, multi-asset class reallocation, the primary goal is to help ensure that the investment objectives of the plan are maintained as assets are reallocated from one manager to another.

Sturdivant & Co. utilizes a variety of sophisticated trading strategies to enable clients to undertake a significant portfolio restructuring in the most cost effective manner. Beginning with pre-trade analysis, we estimate the implicit and explicit costs of the various alternatives available for transitioning assets and recommend strategies to minimize reinvestment risk.

Commission Recapture Program
The Sturdivant Commission Recapture Program (SCRP) provides institutional clients (including pension plans) with the opportunity to lower commissions and enhance investment performance. A client simply requests that its investment managers use the brokers in the Sturdivant network for all or a portion of the client’s trades. These are the same brokers that many investment managers already use, so investment managers can place trades through the SCRP without the paperwork or sequencing issues of other recapture programs.

Corporate Stock Buyback & Employee Share Repurchase Programs
In addition to our traditional execution capabilities, Sturdivant & Co. is experienced in the area of corporate share repurchases. For five years, we participated in the share repurchase program of one of the world’s largest energy companies. While strictly adhering to Rule 10b-18, Sturdivant & Co. was able to consistently outperform the daily Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) benchmark, often beating the mark by the amount of the commission, in essence providing a cost-free service. Through our success in the Corporate Stock Buyback Program, we were invited to participate in the Employee Share Repurchase Program. With a competitive commission structure based upon how we performed relative to the VWAP, Sturdivant was again able to create value for not only the firm, but for the employees of the client, as well.
